The history of the Institute of Political Science and Public Administration and its previous organizational forms is part of the history of the Faculty of Management (later: Faculty of Economic and Legal Sciences) of the University of Natural Sciences and Humanities in Siedlce. The beginnings of Administration studies can be traced back to the Department of Law at the Institute of Management, which in 2003 was transformed into the Institute of Administration, Local Government and Law within the Faculty of Management.
From 2012, the Institute functioned within the structures of the Faculty of Economic and Legal Sciences. The change of the name of the faculty resulted from transformations in the area of scientific activity and changes in the education profile. In 2016, along with the change in the organizational structure of the faculty, the Institute of Administration, Local Government and Law was transformed into two Departments: Law and Public Administration and Management, which functioned alongside three other departments created by the Institute of Management and Marketing. From June 1, 2019, both departments became part of the newly established Institute of Political Science and Public Administration, which from October 1, 2019 was included in the structure of the Faculty of Social Sciences. This change was dictated by the new legal status resulting from the reform of Polish higher education system.
